We’ve been in Helsinki for the past few days and we absolutely LOVE it! There’s a bus that leaves 50 feet from our apartment and follows King’s Road (which is a gorgeous drive) and arrives in Helsinki about 2 hours later. We’re staying on Katajanokka Island at the Hotel Katajanokka, which is a refurbished prison from the 1900’s.
Helsinki is a beautiful city, however it is MUCH more touristy than Turku. Several cruise ships dock each day in the city and unload hundreds of eager tourists onto the main shopping street. While it is neat to walk through the markets and fight your way through crowds of international visitors, the outskirts are just as fascinating. Many pictures are to come as soon as we get back to Turku (I forgot my camera cord!) later this weekend.
I can’t wait to see your photos of Helsinki. I absolutely love this city. I will be back in late September for a few days on my way to Italy.
